Dec. 10 is officially Human Rights Day in Cornwall, but what that means will vary depending on each person’s lived experiences.

Coun. Sarah Good shared a proclamation on behalf of Mayor Justin Towndale, at a panel organized by the Social Development Council of SDG, Cornwall and Akwesasne, the City of Cornwall and an organization called United for Human Rights. Dec. 10 is already recognized at the international level as Human Rights Day.

The Human Rights Day celebration took place at the Cornwall Public Library. A panel discussion lasting roughly an hour served as the event’s primary focus. Cornwall’s equity, culture, and belonging specialist , Farhana Meghji moderated the event.
