Wilfried Nancy’s baptism of fire as Celtic manager continued at Parkhead tonight as his side slumped to a humiliating defeat to Roma in his first experience of European competition.

It was always a going to be tall order for the Frenchman, who only arrived in Scotland from the United States last week, to mastermind a victory in such a difficult match against such formidable Italian opponents. A draw would have been an achievement of sorts in the circumstances.
