NEW YORK (WBNG) — The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation is working to combat PFAS exposure in drinking water as state officials promote new resources available to residents.
The goal is to keep people safe and informed about the dangers of PFAS.
According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), “PFAS are widely used, long-lasting chemicals, components of which break down very slowly over time.”
DEC commissioner Amanda Lefton said the department is applying evidence-based findings to keep communities safe.
