Rawan Soboh and her children spent Thursday morning in Gaza City removing flood water from their tent to stay dry following heavy rain in the region.

“We haven’t been able to sleep for two days because of the rain, we spent all night awake,” said Soboh, who spent the night watching over her tent and pushing the water out. “There are no mops, towels, and no place to put children to sleep.”

Displaced from eastern Gaza City, Baraka Bhar was caring for her 3-month-old baby twins inside a tent as the rain kept pouring outside.

“Our tents are worn out, and the situation is catastrophic. They are torn everywhere and they leak rain,” Bhar said as she was carrying her 3-month-old who suffers from Hydrocephalus. “We should not lose our children this winter.”

With buckets and mops, the tent camp residents laboriously pushed water out of their tents to save their soaked furniture.

“My little boy is 8, and I have no clothes for him. He was soaked overnight, and in the morning, he had turned blue, sleeping on water,” said Aliaa Bahtiti, whose tent's floor was flooded with inches of water.

“We cannot buy food, covers, towels, or sheets to sleep on.”
