The Geminid meteor shower is peaking this weekend, and you can see it in and around Calgary. It’s been touted as one of the “best” and “most reliable” meteor showers.
According to NASA , the Geminid meteor shower is set to peak from Dec. 13 to 14, 2025. “ This meteor shower is known for being bright and colourful, made up of debris trailing the asteroid 3200 Phaethon.”
NASA says to look east to catch a glimpse of the meteor shower, and in the darkest spots, you can even see up to 120 Geminid meteors per hour!
The meteors typically start around 9 or 10 p.m. and last until dawn, making it one of the earliest meteor showers of the year.
According to Environment and Climate Change Canada , Calgary is supposed to have clear skies on the peak nights of the shower, so make sure to bundle
