SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - City officials have released information regarding a civil penalty related to Sioux City’s wastewater treatment plant.

According to a city press release, the city council on Monday, Dec. 15, will discuss an upcoming joint stipulation, consent order, judgment and decree. These agenda items are related to events that happened in 2014, where the city says two former employees violated provisions of the United States Clean Water Act.

The city says as part of this settlement, it acknowledges the state’s allegations. But the city says since 2014, significant leadership, operational, and oversight changes have already been implemented to prevent any similar issues from happening again.
