AUSTIN, Texas — Leaders with the University of Texas at Austin are looking for private developers to build a new arena on campus.

The university issued a request for proposal this week for a new 6,000 seat multi-purpose arena that would be smaller than the Moody Center.

It would be home to the Longhorns' volleyball team and would also include student housing. The arena would also sit on four acres just south of the Moody Center in the athletics and entertainment district.

UT would own the facilities while a private company would operate them. Developers have until Feb. 6 to submit proposals.
