HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) - Christmas card senders have until Wednesday to mail their holiday greetings through first-class mail to ensure delivery by Christmas, postal service officials said.

The priority mail deadline is a week away, according to U.S. Postal Service representatives who shared tips for ensuring timely and safe deliveries during the busy holiday season.

Postal service spokeswoman Amy Gibbs said the agency is entering its busiest period of the year.

“This is our busiest season. We are headed right into our busiest week of the year. We plan for this season all year round. We get about a month off and then January we are starting to plan for January, so it’s our Super Bowl. It’s our time to shine,” Gibbs said.
