Some drivers in DC are going to need to practice their "hustle, loyalty, and respect" when "The Greatest Ever" comes to the nation's capital for his final match.
Earlier this year, the WWE announced that John Cena's final stop in his yearlong farewell tour will be as the headliner at "Saturday Night's Main Event" on Dec. 13 at Capital One Arena in Washington, DC.
Now, that final match is here — and it may tie up traffic in some parts of the city surrounding Capital One Arena.
Cena announced earlier this year that he was hanging up his jorts and wrestling boots at the end of the year following an up-and-down run that saw him make a dramatic heel turn — before promptly returning as a face — and peaked with his record-setting 17th World Championship.
Now, his storied career will come to an end in the nation's capital.
However, Cena's Farewell Fan Fest may cause some chaos for drivers in DC, with the Metropolitan Police Department announcing parking restrictions and street closures.
Beginning at 6 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 13, through 4 a.m. on Sunday, there will be Emergency No Parking signage on F Street from 6th Street to 7th Street NW.
During that same timeframe, F Street will be closed westbound from 5th Street to 6th Street and in both directions from 6th Street to 7th Street NW.
“Washington, DC is the Sports Capital and the perfect place to honor John Cena’s remarkable legacy,” Angie M. Gates, President and CEO of Events DC, said in a statement. “We are excited to welcome WWE fans from our city and around the globe to witness an unforgettable final showdown in our nation’s capital."
"We deeply value our partnership with WWE and look forward to providing fans with an experience they will cherish forever."
Officials noted that all street closures and listed times are subject to change based on prevailing or unexpected conditions.
They also advised that motorists on nearby streets could also face possible delays and should seek alternative routes.
Pedestrian traffic is also expected to increase during the event.
"The public should expect parking restrictions along the street and should be guided by the posted emergency no parking signage," police said.
"All vehicles that are parked in violation of the emergency no parking signs will be ticketed and towed."
