PORTLAND, Ore. — On Thursday, a Multnomah County Circuit Court judge sentenced a 21-year-old man to life in prison for murdering a man in Portland in 2022 .

Judge Heidi Moawad sentenced Riz’o Eonte Lucas for shooting and killing 33-year-old Fars Giday on April 8, 2022. The shooting happened in broad daylight, just before noon.

Lucas was convicted of murder in the second degree with a firearm and unlawful use of a weapon with a firearm.

During the trial, prosecutors shared footage from nearby surveillance cameras showing the moments that led up to the deadly shooting. Footage shows Giday facing the street, standing near his tent on Northeast Naito Parkway. Lucas stands nearby for several minutes before he walks up to Giday, pulls a gun out and shoots him.
