OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Douglas County residents are reporting receiving scam calls from people claiming to be sheriff’s deputies saying they missed jury duty.

Jean Wynn, a Douglas County resident, received one of these calls.

“I was just really quiet at first. And they said, Hello, can I speak to Jean Wynn? And I said, can I tell her what you know, who’s calling,” Wynn said.

When Wynn questioned the caller’s identity, her instincts kicked in.

“And I said, you have the wrong number. And he said, Well, what number am I calling and what is your name? And I said, Well, you should have that information. You’re the one calling me. And he said, whoa, whoa, whoa, wait a minute. Wait a minute. And after that, I just hung up on it,” Wynn said.
