OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) A family is mourning the loss of 48-year-old Charles Holmes, who died this week after being struck by an SUV while riding his bike near 32nd and Hickory.

Holmes’s family described him as a man trying to get his life back together, saying the timing of the crash makes it all the more tragic.

“He was struggling his whole life with, you know, and he was starting to get a little bit better,” said Christopher Holmes Senior, Charles’s twin brother.

Christopher Holmes Senior described his twin brother as a man recovering from alcohol addiction. At the scene of the crash, he questioned how Charles’s life could be taken so suddenly.
