ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - A resolution will be introduced to the Board of Aldermen on Friday in support of the City implementing quick build safety infrastructure along Gravois Avenue.
Alderwoman Alisha Sonnier is proposing low-cost and temporary traffic calming measures to make the road safer. Her resolution is for the city to make changes to the state-run road, using ward money.
Aubrey Byron is with the Coalition to Protect Cyclists and Pedestrians, which is an advocacy group that has done extensive research into Gravois Ave.
The Missouri Department of Transportation has a pavement resurfacing and safety improvement project set for Gravois but not until 2029.
“Citizens are sick and tired of hearing that it’s going to take three to five years to see solutions,” Byron said.
