TAYLOR COUNTY, Ga. — A Taylor County woman convicted of killing her husband in 2017 will ask a judge for a retrial on Friday.
GBI agents arrested Constance Dean on Oct. 6, 2017, per a GBI press release . She was charged with malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, aggravated battery and more in connection to the death of her husband, Frederick.
Dean told investigators she found her husband shot inside their home on Sept. 12, 2017. She said he had shot himself, according to the GBI.
But District Attorney Don Kelly said an autopsy showed Frederick had been shot four times, and the wounds were not self-inflicted. He said it is rare for a suicide to involve several gunshots.
Dean was convicted in April 2024.
Dean’s family and her lawyers now say one juror had already made up
