WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -- A social media trend designed to give away free money is causing problems, according to Wichita's Parks and Recreation Department, which says it's still cleaning up damage from a recent "cash hunt."

"Cash Hunts" happen when social media influencers hide money or other prizes and post hints where to find them.

Director of Parks and Recreation Reggie Davidson says last week, an influencer organized a cash hunt at O.J. Watson Park and buried a large sum of money along the train tracks.

"We had individuals that came out there and was digging on the property near our train track area and other areas throughout the park," said Davidson.
