CONWAY SPRINGS, Kan. (KAKE)— Kansas farmers are reacting to a new federal aid package that will provide one-time payments to growers affected by this year’s tariff-related market losses. The White House announced a 12 billion dollar relief program this week, saying the money will go to row-crop producers, including those who grow corn, cotton, soybeans and wheat.

Talan Shinn says farming has felt especially strained this year.

“You get a sense of accomplishment. You can see what you did every day. You feel like you’re making a difference,” Shinn said. “Nobody knows quite what they’re gonna be getting yet. My initial reaction was well, I’ll take the money. It’ll pay some bills, but it’s definitely not a solution.”
