New Delhi, Dec 12: Government initiatives to enhance natural gas availability for power generation include the expansion of the National Gas Grid, establishment of LNG terminals, and implementation of a unified tariff.

The measures allow domestic gas producers to sell gas through authorized gas exchanges. Additionally, LNG can be imported freely under the Open General Licence, with benefits such as nil customs duty on imports for electricity generation.

The government aims to increase the natural gas share in the energy mix through various steps, including the development of city gas distribution networks and prioritizing domestic gas allocation for Compressed Natural Gas.
