Shillong: Dec 11: Shillong MP Ricky AJ Syngkon raised the problems faced by farmers living along the Meghalaya-Assam border, which is disputed in several places, during the winter session of Parliament in New Delhi today.
Syngkon said that he recently witnessed the farmers in Lapangap, West Jaintia Hills, having to harvest their paddy under the protection of the police. “The reason is because of the failure of the government, both at the Centre over the years and also at the state level, to solve this long pending border issue,” Syngkon said.
The MP, while making a short submission before the Lok Sabha, demanded that the Centre and the state take up this matter seriously and resolve it.
