PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Drivers near a major central Phoenix freeway interchange had to detour Thursday night because of multiple crashes.

The southbound lanes of Interstate 17 were shut down just north of the Interstate 10 Stack just after 7:30 p.m.

The Department of Public Safety said it’s investigating the crash, which has unknown injuries. Troopers said there are several crashes in the area, with some happening after the initial crash.

The southbound lanes were reopened around 8:15 p.m.

The northbound lanes weren’t affected.
