The high school basketball season officially kicked off on Thursday with teams across the state meeting in hopes to start their season on a high note.
In a close three-point contest, Holyoke hosted Northampton in its season opener. With a final score of 73-70, the Knights kicked off their season with a win.
Leading the scoring for Holyoke was Julian Fasoli. Making five 2-pointers and six 3-pointers. The senior ended the evening with 28 points.
Georlee Aponte was the second-highest scorer for the Knights with 17 points. Aponte made 2-pointers layups, four free throws and a single 3-pointer.
Leading the way for Northampton was Eli Reid with 23 points. Reid made seven free throws and eight 2-pointers during the Thursday night contest.
