CYPRESS, Texas (KTRE) - The Joaquin Rams scored 23 unanswered points to beat the Refugio Bobcats 37-28 in the 2A Division I state semifinals.
This is Joaquin’s first trip to the state championship game.
Refugio got on the board first with a touchdown pass from Lewis to Garza to put the Bobcats ahead 7-0. Joaquin answered back early in the second quarter with a touchdown run by Wilson to tie the game at 7. Later in the quarter, Lewis scored on a short touchdown run to give Refugio a 14-7 lead at halftime.
After halftime, Refugio extended their lead to 20-7, but Joaquin responded with another score to make it 20-14. One play later, Refugio scored on a 54-yard rushing touchdown to give the Bobcats a 28-14 lead. The Rams responded with a touchdown of their own to make the score 28-21. Joaqu
