First signs of the long-pending BJP presidential election being on the cards appeared on Thursday night when the party finalised the schedule for the election of chief in the state unit of Uttar Pradesh.
BJP organisational election in-charge K Laxman had earlier said the BJP chief would be elected once party presidents in major states, including UP, Haryana and Delhi, are elected.
The Tribune has learnt that the nominations for UP BJP presidential poll will be held on December 13 in the presence of BJP general secretary Vinod Tawde.
If there’s only a single nomination received, which is likely, the name of the BJP Uttar Pradesh chief will be announced by state BJP election in-charge Piyush Goyal on December 14.
Sources said the BJP would likewise soon schedule elections for presidents
