A blackmail r acket run from inside the surveillance system of Uttar Pradesh’s Purvanchal Expressway has triggered a wave of firings, arrests and a police investigation, after employees were found extracting CCTV footage of travellers’ private moments and using it to extort money.

ASSISTANT MANAGER, TRAFFIC MANAGER TERMINATED

The latest action came on Thursday, when the Traffic Manager deployed on Package-3 of the expressway was terminated. This followed the earlier sacking of Assistant Manager Ashutosh Sarkar, who was removed after the project authority reported “unauthorised leakage of video content” from the Anti-Traffic Management System (ATMS).
