The Baltimore Orioles have officially finalized their five-year deal with Pete Alonso worth a reported $155 million. For the first time in seven seasons, he won't be on the New York Mets' Opening Day roster.
Alonso, who became the Mets' all-time home run leader last season, was a beloved franchise figure, and he'll be missed in The Big Apple. The Mets posted a tribute video for Alonso, accompanied by the message "Thanks for everything, Pete."
Alonso hit 264 home runs in his career with the Mets. In 2024, he hit 34 home runs and had a .788 OPS, but was unable to find a long-term deal the following offseason. The Mets agreed to bring him back on the two-year deal he opted out of this offseason.
