Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic was arguably the biggest reveal from The Game Awards 2025 , but it may be a long time before we're actually able to play it. Taking place in the beloved version of the galaxy far, far away first established by Knights of the Old Republic in 2003, Fate of the Old Republic is helmed by the same director, Casey Hudson.

In the official reveal from Star Wars , Hudson and Lucasfilm Games vice president and general manager Douglas Reilly were interviewed about the project, which seems to only be taking off. Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic is " still in the early stages of development and creation ," meaning its release is likely years away. The game is being developed by Hudson's Arcanaut Studios, which he co-founded earlier in 2025.
