Staff at the International Criminal Court are learning to navigate their lives under the burden of sanctions placed on them by the United States.
Associated Press journalist Molly Quell in the Maastricht, Netherlands, explains how the White House has sanctioned nine ICC staff members, three prosecutors and six judges.
Quell said they were sanctioned for their involvement in the court's investigations into Afghanistan and Israel, which U.S. President Donald Trump's administration says are illegitimate.
The group have been barred from accessing credit cards, they are banned from entering the United States, and they have been cut off from a host of financial and technological services provided by U.S. companies. Yet they remain undefiant, pledging to continue their lives, bringing justice to the victims of the world's worst crimes.
