A major compensation scam has come to light within the Noida Authority, prompting the Supreme Court to take a stern view of the alleged corruption and administrative lapses. On December 10, the court directed the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Uttar Pradesh Police to complete its probe within two months, expressing dissatisfaction with the slow pace of the investigation.
The bench, headed by Chief Justice Surya Kant, cautioned that longstanding irregularities in Noida's land acquisition system would be exposed and made it clear that the inquiry must proceed "impartially, transparently and without interference".
