Thiruvananthapuram: With polling completed across seven more districts, Kerala’s local body elections have concluded. The results will be announced on Saturday. This election recorded the lowest voter turnout in the past 15 years. Out of a total of 2.86 crore eligible voters, 2.11 crore people cast their votes, marking a polling percentage of 73.69%. This is lower than the 75.95% recorded during the 2020 elections held amid COVID-19 social distancing measures. Final figures may see minor changes.
More women voted than men
Among those who voted, 1.13 crore were women and 98.15 lakh were men. The turnout rate among women was 74.51%, while it was 72.67% for men. Compared to the last election, 2.99 lakh more women voted, whereas the number of male voters dropped by around 2.25 lakh.
