NEW DELHI, Dec 12: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has dismissed four flight operations inspectors as part of its action following massive flight disruptions at IndiGo. Though the immediate cause behind the removals remains unclear, the move has raised questions over the regulator’s evaluation of IndiGo’s pilot strength before permitting a 10% increase in flights for the winter schedule and its scrutiny of the airline’s readiness to meet new pilot duty and rest norms.
The DGCA has also summoned IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers on Friday to review the airline’s steps to restore operations, accelerate pilot hiring, and ensure refunds and compensation for affected passengers. (Agencies)
