A major rescue operation was launched at a popular Welsh beach after reports of an individual in the water late on Thursday, December 11. Emergency teams were called to Aberavon Beach at 9.45pm, prompting a joint response from Coastguard crews from Port Talbot and Porthcawl , South Wales Police and the Welsh Ambulance Service.
When Coastguard officers arrived at the north pier police had already brought the casualty to safety on the structure. It has been reported that the individual had suffered severe injuries and Coastguard officers provided urgent medical care while preparations were made to move the person to safety.
