A Walk in the Park is an ongoing series from State Journal photographer Nick King, who intends to explore Lansing area parks one hour at a time. Jones Lake Park on the northwest side of Lansing is a good spot for fishing and kayaking as well as relaxing strolls with beautiful view.

The 15-acre park, located at 701 W. Fredrick St., has a spring-fed lake sitting at the heart of it. While Jones Lake is currently freezing over, visitors can view snow drifts dance across the ice and see traces of fall leaves frozen just under the surface. Visitors may also come upon mini-sized snowmen left by most likely a child patron.
