Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, on December 12, underscored that those involved in the death of singer Zubeen Garg “will be punished as per law,” after the Special Investigation Team submitted its chargesheet to the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court in Guwahati.
Sarma said suspects had already been arrested and that the legal process would now determine accountability.
The filing marks a significant turn in the investigation into Garg’s death, originally reported as an accidental drowning in Singapore on September 19, 2025.
Sarma has repeatedly dismissed the initial account, stating both in the assembly and to reporters that evidence pointed to a “plain and simple murder,” involving one main assailant and others who assisted.
Details of the chargesheet have not been made public
