MADISON – Joel Brennan, the newest Democrat to join the field for governor , wants to funnel more money to child care centers, schools and universities and said he would sign legislation to legalize marijuana, expand abortion access and repeal Act 10.

Brennan, in a wide-ranging interview with the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel on Dec. 11, also said he would seek to address housing affordability to make homeownership more attainable for people under 40 and to lower health care costs if elected.

He suggested he may be open to increasing the tax rate on the wealthiest residents of Wisconsin and would seek to replicate middle-class tax cuts enacted by Gov. Tony Evers, his former boss, and the Republican-controlled state Legislature.
