A search operation is underway in Sinazongwe District in Zambia for 42-year-old Godfrey Syalubulo, who went missing after being attacked and dragged into Lake Kariba by a crocodile.

The incident happened on 10 December 2025 around 22:00 hours at Zebra Island. Police report that earlier in the evening, Syalubulo and a friend had gone to cast fishing nets using a dugout canoe. The attack occurred when they returned to the shore and Syalubulo stepped into shallow water.

According to Southern Province Commissioner of Police Moono Namalongo, the victim has not been found and is believed to be deceased. Search efforts are ongoing.
