As I scan the shelves of the women’s mags, I see yet another fresh-faced fifty-something telling me how the perimenopause has given her the “glow up” she needed. It’s the perfect time to “reinvent yourself”. I look at her luminous skin, glossy hair, enviable figure and I wonder where I am going wrong.

Of course, she’s had the glam squad and the photos have been filtered beautifully, but as I read, I wonder if I’m experiencing some kind of different perimenopause to everyone else? I have drunk the Kool Aid (taken HRT) and yet still my perimenopause seems to be the gift that keeps on giving.
