We have been going to Malvern Theatres' panto for the past eight years. It's a family tradition in our household as deeply embedded as putting up the Christmas tree on December 1 and putting out a mince pie for Santa on Christmas Eve.

This year's festive treat was Jack and the Beanstalk and I have to say it was the best ever in my opinion.

It had all the usual sparkle and charm - stunning costumes, super special effects (more on that later) and, of course, the brilliant Mark James - Malvern's own funnyman without whom the panto would be incomplete.

However, this year had an added extra ingredient.
