DES PLAINES, Ill. (WLS) -- Despite the bitter cold, faithful Catholics have been out all hours of the night into the early morning Friday, making the pilgrimage to north suburban Des Plaines to pray at the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
Some say they've been on their pilgrimage for more than seven hours.

Altogether, more than 300,000 people are expected to visit the shrine, as many often pray for guidance in times of need, bringing flowers and paying their respects to the Virgin Mary.
Rosio Hernandez usually walks here every year, about 11 miles from her home in Chicago, she says.
"Bitter cold, we've been doing this for the last four or five years and today, I'm in a wheelchair, so she is doing the favor to bring me," she said
