OXFORD, Miss. (WMC) - The chancellor at Ole Miss wants the lawsuit against him for firing a staffer over a social media post thrown out.
Lauren Stokes reposted an image on her personal Instagram account about Charlie Kirk following his death.
Chancellor Glenn Boyce fired her, saying the comments “run completely counter to our institutional values.”
Stokes sued Boyce, claiming he violated her First Amendment rights, and she’s demanding her job back.
In the response, Boyce said, “(Stoke’s) post caused actual disruption to the university’s operations and the university had good reason to believe that disruption would continue if (Stokes) remained employed.”
