North State residents can look forward to a total lunar eclipse, two supermoons, and eleven meteor showers in 2026.

A total lunar eclipse will be visible over California in 2026, making the moon appear a rose or rusty red.

Major meteor showers include the Perseids in August and the Geminids in December.

Nature has some spectacular night sky shows in 2026, kicking off with a Wolf Moon and a meteor shower while some Shasta and Siskiyou residents are still taking down their Christmas lights.

California won't be in the path of the first solar eclipse of the year, and will get only a glimpse of the second; but a lunar eclipse will make the late winter moon blush red and 11 meteor showers will light up the sky over the North State.
