NEW YORK -- A woman visiting New York City from California was changing her 10-month-old daughter in a seventh floor restroom at Macy's Herald Square when a woman suddenly stabbed her from behind, police said.
It happened Thursday afternoon just before 3 p.m. The baby was not injured.
The 38-year-old victim and her husband work for the sheriff's office in Jurupa Valley. He disarmed the woman and held her for police.
The victim was stabbed in the back and arm and was taken to the hospital where she was said to be stable.
A Kerri Aherne, 43, of Tewksbury, Massachusetts, is charged with attempted murder in connection with the seemingly unprovoked attack.
She is expected to appear in court Friday afternoon.
