LUMBERTON, N.C. (WTVD) -- Philanthropist MacKenzie Scott has gifted $24 million to Robeson Community College (RCC), the largest single gift in the college's history.

Located in Lumberton, RCC serves over 9,500 students, many of whom are first-generation learners, adult students, and military families. A news release said the gift will expand access to education and workforce training, equipping students with skills for family-sustaining wages and supporting the region's economic growth.

"This generous gift is far more than a financial contribution; it is a profound affirmation of our students, faculty, and the limitless potential of Robeson County," RCC President Melissa Singler said.
