A 20-year-old Lakewood man was arrested following a vehicle and foot pursuit, authorities announced Thursday, Dec. 11.
On Tuesday evening, Dec. 9, an officer attempted to stop Ja'Syi Jones after observing him driving a Nissan Rogue on the sidewalk along Ocean Avenue, Lakewood police said.
Jones fled onto Regal Court, drove toward a marked patrol vehicle and continued at a high speed through residential driveways, placing nearby civilians in danger, police said.
Due to the reckless manner of travel, officers discontinued the pursuit, police said.
Officers later responded to Jones' residence at the Dutch Town Manor Apartments with a warrant, but he fled through a window and ran through a complex, police said.
After a prolonged chase and continued resistance, he was taken into custody, police said.
Jones was charged with eluding, obstruction, and resisting arrest, and issued multiple motor vehicle summonses, police said. His vehicle was impounded pending a search warrant and he was transported to the Ocean County Jail, police said.
