A former leading figure in the football ‘casuals’ scene of the 1980s has died after falling from a ladder while hanging up Union Jack flags on lampposts.

Paul Lumber had recently published two books detailing the exploits of football hooliganism and was a well-known character across the country due to his time in Bristol City's CSF (City Service Firm), who shared a fierce Severnside rivalry with Cardiff City.

Mr Lumber, 60, was rushed to the hospital with serious head injuries after falling from a height near his home in Bristol on November 23, eventually being placed into an induced coma he would never wake from, passing away late last week.
