The NHS is experiencing a surge in flu cases
The UK is battling unprecedented levels of flu this winter, leading to school closures and strain on hospitals. While many people think flu is just 'a bad cold' the virus hospitalises and kills thousands of people every year in the UK - and this year's new strain has started earlier than usual.
Dr Donald Grant, GP and senior clinical advisor at The Independent Pharmacy , said there are six symptoms to look out for, as they could indicate a more serious health condition.
Dr Grant said: “The UK is currently battling high levels of flu, with cases putting strain on hospitals and causing schools to shut down temporarily. However, this increase in flu cases could lead to people misjudging the severity of their symptoms."
