A renowned choreographer and a parish councillor who served his community for seven decades have been honoured at a special ceremony.

Ronald Hynd MBE, 94, was made an Order of the British Empire (OBE) at the event on Friday, while Margaret Chilestone, Charlotte Clark, Janet Humphrey, Russell Ling, Robert Love and Susan Price received a British Empire Medal (BEM).

The Lord-Lieutenant Clare, Countess of Euston, CVO, said it was a "profound privilege" to recognise the acts of service, adding the "recipients embody the generosity, resilience, and talent of our county. "

Russell Ling, who was recognised for his services to the community of Otley with a BEM, described the occasion at Euston Hall as "quite extraordinary".

"I have not had anything like that before," he said.
