A 16-year-old from Suffolk has been chosen to represent young people as a Duke of Edinburgh’s Award youth ambassador.
Despite the challenges of her chronic illness, Lydia Davenport, from Rendlesham, completed her bronze award and was selected as one of just 31 ambassadors from across the UK.
As a youth ambassador, Lydia will speak on issues that affect young people at events, meet decision-makers in parliament, and help shape the charity's work.
Diagnosed with myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME) and postural tachycardia syndrome (PoTS), illnesses that affect her energy, mobility, and overall health, Lydia initially anticipated difficulties in accessing the DofE Award due to her need for additional adjustments.
However, inspired by her father's experience with the award, she decided to join
