CINCINNATI (WXIX) - Hamilton County Juvenile Court has completed a pilot program that marks the first “Girls Court” in Ohio and the nation’s first in a major metropolitan city.
The eight-week program targeting female juvenile delinquency wrapped before Thanksgiving, with staff waiting to measure long-term outcomes while reporting immediate positive impacts.

“The amount of girls that come through the justice system, particularly the juvenile justice system, is much lower than boys,” said Administrative Judge Kari Bloom.
The imbalance has affected resources for post-adjudicated girls or girls on probation in Hamilton County’s Juvenile Court.
“We didn’t really have anything to offer them,” Bloom said.
