SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - The City of Springfield's Office of Public Works has declared a Snow Emergency for designated snow routes starting Saturday morning.
The snow emergency will go into effect at 7 a.m. and end at noon on Tuesday, December 16.
The decision is being made in anticipation of a snowstorm that is set to bring a large amount of snow .
Residents have to remove all parked cars from marked snow emergency routes by Friday night at 11 p.m. so crews can clear roads.

Residents and businesses are also encouraged to keep their sidewalks clear.
