NEW ORLEANS —

The University of New Orleans sent a campus-wide alert Friday asking people to evacuate the campus.

The alert, sent by UNO police, says officers were made aware of a potential threat to the university. Advertisement

A mandatory evacuation of the campus was ordered, and the alert said "This is an actual emergency and not a drill."

This comes as graduation ceremonies were underway on the campus.

The Hynes UNO and the Benjamin Franklin High School campus are currently sheltering in place.

WDSU has reached out to UNO for more information regarding the potential threat. At the time of this publication, a response was not received.
