Maikel Garcia had a breakout 2025 MLB season for the Kansas City Royals .

They've decided they want to keep him around for the long haul.

On Friday, the Royals and Garcia agreed to a five-year contract extension, according to ESPN's Jeff Passan .

Specific salary details of the deal have not yet been reported.

The contract also includes a club option for a sixth year, according to Passan.

The deal overlaps with superstar shortstop Bobby Witt's contract, which runs through 2030.
